Tonight we move out from under the soft downy wing of the Abel Family’s giant dove of love, and move out to the farm!
We spent the morning with Trevor and Mary, being shown how to feed the animals and where to find the vacuum, how to light the wood burning stove and things like that. It will be a very good experience for us to live at the house for a while, because Trevor and Mary pretty much live the life we want. They live in a nice house in the country, have a few animals, they grow food, when things break they fix it themselves and they even make their own laundry detergent. I came out from learning about the inside of the house to CB, covered in sheep poo exclaiming “Kara! They have the coolest septic tank!” What a nerd. Yeah, we’ll be alright there for a couple of months.
Right now I’m waiting for some little donuts to rise, but it’s not exactly warm weather today so it’s taking a little while. They are a going away present for Anna, the German home-stay student the Abels have. She leaves to go back home tonight at midnight and I will miss her, because she’s really fun to have around and I could talk about german food with her forever. Mmmm schwartzwalderkirschtorte… yom.
Anyway, I look forward to blogging all kinds of pictures of animals and me messing up the kitchen over there with food experiments!
Oh also on another note, I got a job! And then quit it. It’s not a great job. But I have another job interview monday or tuesday, so wish me luck, again!
